Cultural Center at Former Central Caseros – Entre Ríos

2011

National Competition of Preliminary Designs “New Cultural Center at Former Central Caseros and Enhancement of Urban Sector in Concepción del Uruguay”.

Organized by: Colegio de Arquitectos de la Provincia de Entre Ríos -CAPER-.

Promoter: Ministry of Planning, Infrastructure, and Services of the Government of Entre Ríos.

Location: Concepción del Uruguay. Entre Ríos, Argentina.

The building of the former power plant is a prominent spot of a linear path beginning at the old Historic Railway Station on Carosini Street and ending at Concepción del Uruguay coastline, on Paisandú Avenue, near the Historic Port, now called “Puerto del Bicentenario.”

These two spots constitute a park alongside the railroad, in an area which covers sectors of the urban fabric with various characteristics.

The railroad and its former premises currently separate the two sectors, constituting an urban barrier which needs to be solved. At the same time, it represents an area of opportunity to change this situation, by transforming it into a park that unifies and integrates the two urban sectors.
